Reptile Surveys

Writer: Neil ReedNeil Reed

This week has finally seen the start of our reptile monitoring efforts in the Country Park, we have been unable to get this started for the past two years due to the pandemic so it was brilliant to finally map out and place these refugia around the park.

By placing refugia, these corrugated tiles, in locations we most likely think a reptile will be found we are then able to carry out regular monitoring of them to see just what reptiles are living in our park and in what numbers. Over time we can build up a picture of how those populations are doing. This data is fed into a national database so that all relevant parties that need access to this data can do so.
