Stag Beetle Pyramid

Now we have some freshly cut logs from a dead tree in the country park we have made a start on our first Stag Beetle Hotel pyramid. Motivated by recent sightings of stag beetles in the park, we have drilled the logs one end to speed up the decomposing process and create nooks for insects to explore.


The ends of the logs need to be buried into the ground to a depth of around 50cm so we are just waiting for a bit of rainfall to soften the ground so we can complete the task...
